Till August, we have been tackling the incoming undue criticism very diplomatically. Earlier government used to stay polite towards foreign countries and was usually reluctant in registering protest against any unjust activity of the wider world. Contrary to Nawaz Sharif or even Zardari’s rule, Prime Minister Imran Khan has proven to be more vocal and as someone who believes in tit for tat. Earlier he took Modi to cleaners and recently, it was Donald Trump’s turn. Since he is in charge of country’s premium office, he is supposed to be polite and careful while choosing words for his counterparts, like he used “small men” for Modi. This drew a little criticism but what’s important here is, he knows how to speak for its nation’s sentiments. He takes those comments personally, which is not very wise but at least his emotions resonate with people’s pulse.
Modi definitely deserved those comments and for setting the record straight whatever said by the Prime Minister on Trump’s remarks was the best possible response for a country like Pakistan which sacrificed in the name of war against terrorism. Imran Khan is following in the footsteps of the big Bhutto, he challenged the world, he rattled the system, he tried to bring Muslim countries on the same platform and told the western world that Muslims were a bigger power. Now we need to see if Imran Khan is actually a threat to the western world like Bhutto. If yes, it’s good for Pakistan and if not, then it’s disastrous for Imran khan and his party. Pakistan has been facing serious dearth of leadership, another loss would actually be intolerable for the failing economy. It is time for the government to deliberate upon the policies and make favorable solutions to public issues and it’s must for opposition to support the system in the best public interest, else we might lose democratic system once for all.
