ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman called for an immediate investigation into the incident in the Barkhan district and the harsh punishment of those responsible on Friday.

The federal minister expressed her outrage over the tragic incident involving torture and the murder of innocent people in the purported private jail of Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Balochistan Minister for Construction and Communications. Whatever the motivations and causes behind the tragic and abhorrent incident of Barkhan, it raises doubts about our society’s general consciousness, Sherry continued. “In what century have the wealthy constructed private prisons? Where people are tortured and their bodies are dumped into a well?” she asked.

The senator said that the postmortem revealed heart-wrenching facts. “Nothing can undo what the victims and their families have gone through. Heinous violence, killings, and desecration of dead bodies have left us all bowed in shame”, she said.
