Wasim Akram joins Karachi Kings as president

KARACHI: Former legendary Pakistani fast bowler and captain, Wasim Akram on Wednesday joined Karachi Kings as president of the team for the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Salman Iqbal, CEO ARY network and owner of the team took it to twitter to announce the decision. Akram also rendered his services to Islamabad United as a mentor and coach in the first two seasons before joining the debutant Multan Sultans for the third season which is not part of PSL 4.

On Tuesday, as the retention list was released, Karachi Kings had retained Amir, Azam and Munro in the platinum category for the fourth edition of the league. Final player draft for PSL 4 will be revealed on November 20 in Islamabad whereas the tournament is scheduled to start from February 14 in UAE.

Meanwhile, Former Pakistani cricketer and bowling legend Wasim Akram mocked an Urdu newspaper which used his picture for a news story about Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar.

The news on a statement by Karachi mayor about Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) agreement with government has a smiling photo of the former left-arm pacer.

Tweeting the newspaper’s clipping, Wasim Akram wrote: “I thought we cleared this up, guys. You had one job to do.”
Replying to the tweet, a social media user posted an old error made by an Urdu newspaper of using former cricketer Moin Khan’s picture on a story about the death anniversary of legendary Pakistani actor Moin Akhtar. “You’ve still a few miles to go,” the user wrote.
