Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf was appointed on Tuesday to serve as the new Chief of Naval Staff (CNS). According to a Pakistan Navy spokeswoman quoted in the article, the ceremony to shift command will take place in Islamabad on Saturday, October 7. In 2020, Vice Adm Ashraf succeeded current Naval Chief Adm Amjad Khan Niazi as commander of the Pakistan Navy. In 1989, Vice Adm. Ashraf received his commission in the Pakistan Navy’s Operations Branch. He holds degrees from the US Naval War College, the Royal College of Defence Studies in the UK, and the National Defence University in Islamabad.
Vice Adm Ashraf has extensive experience working in key command and staff positions. He is currently serving as the chief of staff at the Naval Headquarters.
In recognition of his exceptional professional services and valiance, Admiral Ashraf was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat.
