US acknowledges Pakistan’s counter terrorism measures: State Dept

WASHINGTON: Speaking to the media in Washington, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said that the US respects Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts. The US remains committed to working with Pakistan to address the common threat posed by terrorist groups throughout the region, he said, adding that the people of Pakistan have suffered greatly as a result of terrorist attacks over the years. According to Matthew Miller, the US acknowledges Pakistan’s significant counterterrorism efforts in light of the completion of its Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plans. He said, “We applaud Pakistan and India for maintaining the cease-fire along the line of control (LoC).”

We want Pakistan to continue to take steps to permanently disband all terrorist groups and the US is in constant contact with the Pakistani authorities in this regard, he said. He said that US will continue to work with Pakistan to counter mutual terrorist threats, as we discussed during our March 2023 counter terrorism dialogue.
