Unicef spokesperson ‘furious’ over situation in Gaza

After returning from the Palestinian region, the UN children’s agency spokesperson declared that Gaza is “the most dangerous place in the world” for a child, expressing his outrage at the situation there, according to AFP. After spending over two weeks in Gaza, Unicef spokesperson James Elder addressed a press conference, “I’m furious that those with power shrug at the humanitarian nightmares unleashed on a million children.” The Israeli army is still bombarding the Gaza Strip, and he mentioned youngsters who had undergone amputations and were subsequently “killed in those hospitals.” According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), more than 60% of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed or severely damaged.
