In Gaza, where Israeli bombings have continued unabated for the past eight months, nearly 3,000 malnourished children were in danger of passing away before their family saw them, according to UNICEF spokesperson James Elder.
Speaking from the beleaguered Gaza Strip, Elder told UN News, a media website, of the terrible situation in the region, emphasising child malnutrition and the destructive effects of the ongoing fighting in the face of mounting famine fears.
In addition to the deadly lack of access to basic necessities that has already left children physically and psychologically scarred, the destruction of health facilities, including specialised centres that are critical for warding off malnutrition, has severely hampered efforts to address severe hunger among children. These attacks and bombings have occurred continuously.
