Traffic accident on the Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5) causes 13 fatalities, more than 20 injuries

According to an official a traffic accident on the Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5) near Rukanpur on Friday night resulted in at least 13 fatalities and more than 20 injuries.

On the highway close to Rahim Yar Khan, a speeding jeep collided with two other vehicles . At least 13 people died, and 14 injured people were being treated at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan in critical condition, according to district police officer Rizwan Umar Gondal. He said that a van’s tires burst, causing it to overturn on the highway. A bus approaching from behind stopped as its passengers got off the bus to assist other fellow passengers after seeing a stranded vehicle on the highway.

As the bus travellers were assisting the van passengers, a speeding jeep smashed into the bus, resulting in the deaths and injuries.

The official said the police were investigating the causes of the accident.
