HBO announces thrones prequel with Naomi Watts in lead

A Song of Ice and Fire series author George RR Martin has confirmed that the Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts, will be called The Long Night.

Martin revealed the news on Twitter while welcoming Watts to the cast.

“Casting is now underway for THE LONG NIGHT, the first of the GAME OF THRONES successor series to ordered to film. HBO has just announced the first cast member: NAOMI WATTS is coming on board as one of our stars.”

The exact details of Watts’ character are being kept under wraps, but it is known she is playing “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”
