Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said, “We will try to create consensus this time as well,” during a press conference in Lahore today. We will undoubtedly take the JUI-F, ANP, and PTI’s reservations into consideration.
“This action has no political objectives. We simply wish to confront and put an end to the growing terrorist movement that has been going on for the last few months,” he declared.
The minister called for support for the operation from all branches of government, the courts, the security services, the Parliament, and the media. “This is a national crisis, whose resolution is the duty of all institutions, not just the army.”
Asif went on to say that CM Gandapur had “said in muted words that they will support it,” rather than objecting to the scheme.
