QUETTA: According to media reports, interim Baloch information minister Jan Achakzai asserted that individuals designated as “missing persons” by Baloch demonstrators were, in reality, “terrorists” who perished in Pakistan’s most recent operation inside Iran. Speaking at a press conference in Quetta today, Achakzai chastised the protesters staging a sit-in to voice their opposition to Islamabad’s enforced disappearances. He asserted, alluding to Pakistan’s airstrikes within Iran, that “terrorists [and] killed in Iran were those who were being labelled as missing persons.” He claimed that Mahrang Baloch, the protest’s leader, has been fabricating “drama” and disparaging Pakistan while disguising the problem of missing persons. According to the provincial minister of information, Baloch demonstrators were putting on the sit-in in Islamabad with hidden agendas.
