Supreme Court reserves verdict in lifetime disqualification case

Following the conclusion of arguments, the Supreme Court on  Friday reserved its decision in the case concerning the lifetime  disqualification of lawmakers under Article 62(1)(F) of the Constitution. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa stated that brief order would be issued shortly. The hearing was conducted by seven-member larger bench, which was led by CJP Isa and included Justices Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Yahya Afridi, Aminuddin Khan, Jamal  Khan Mandokhel, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Musarrat Hilali. The court took note of inconsistencies regarding the duration of  disqualification in the Election Act, 2017, as well as previous  ruling on petition filed by former PML-N provincial lawmaker Badshah Kh.
