Multan: Public defense of two PhD scholars Dr. Farheen Nadeem and Dr Faiza Arshad held successfully today at the Women University Multan. It was recommended by the house for awarding degrees to the scholars. The scholar Ms. Faiza Arshad from Department of Economics thesis titled was “Effects of Pakistani women on economic development, a case study of higher educational institutions of South Punjab The scholar, while defending her thesis, said that women play a key role in the economic development of any country or state.Similarly, if women are empowered, a big change can be brought in Pakistan. She said a large number of women are employed in Pakistan, while there are some who are contributing to the country’s economy by running small and large-scale businesses. These women are involved in IT, fashion, education, online business and among others, they are shining the name of Pakistan by progressing rapidly. In this thesis, the role and contribution of these women are covered. She completed her thesis under the supervision of Dr. Shahnawaz and external supervisor was Dr. Babar Aziz ( Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences GCU).On this occasion, Dr. Hina Ali (Chairperson, Department of Economics) said that women in our country are continuing their struggle and even today they are facing innumerable problems and difficulties. The participation of Pakistani women in the workforce is 23% not only the mobility restrictions hindering women from moving forward, but they also they face problems of severe wage gap. But now time is changing, our women are progressing rapidly.The second public defense took place in the Urdu department, where scholar Farheen Nadeem successfully defended the constructive reality in her essay on selected popular novels of Urdu.The supervisor of her thesis was Dr. Shaghfat Hussain and Dr. Azra Liaquat and the external supervisor was Dr. Anwar Ahmed.In the end Dr. Azra Liaquat ( Chairperson Department of Urdu) congratulated Dr. Farheen Nadeem on her successful defense and said that Women University is on the path of research and development and this series of progress will continue onwards.
