The Senate opposition leader, Shibli Faraz, took aim at the Treasury benches on Friday, claiming that measures taken against the PTI were being done “under their watch.”
“The fascism, oppression, and violence that you have begun [are ongoing], and this is all happening under your watch,” a visibly incensed Faraz declared during his Senate speech.
His remarks follow the demolition of a portion of PTI’s central secretariat building in Islamabad late last night by the Islamabad police and local officials, who then sealed the property for allegedly breaking building rules.
The PTI then filed a complaint against 35 officers who had raided the office, claiming that the action had been carried out in front of a United Nations delegation, including the chief of police in Islamabad.
