Shaza Fatima chairs meeting on Starlink, LEO Satellite Licensing

According to press information released on Tuesday, the federal government intends to appoint a consultant to complete legislation for the internet services provided by US billionaire Elon Musk’s satellite-based company Starlink in Pakistan.
The advancement of satellite connectivity and technology in Pakistan was the main topic of discussion during a meeting presided over by Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication.
In addition to discussing Starlink’s licensing and regulatory accomplishments, the session covered the creation of a regulatory framework for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites and featured representatives from SUPARCO, PTA, and the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board.
In order to unify Pakistan’s satellite policies, it was resolved during the meeting to appoint a consultant within the next few weeks to help with the licensing procedure for Starlink and LEO satellites.
