Mr. Mumtaz A. Tahir, Chief Editor of Daily Aftab Group and Senior Journalist, Senior Leader of APNS, passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was 80 years old. He is survived by his widow, (one) daughter and four sons.
According to the details, Mumtaz A. Tahir, the Chief Editor of daily Aftab Group, passed away due to cardiac arrest. Before his demise he was reciting the Holy Quran after offering Tahjud prayer at Suhoor time yesterday. His funeral prayers were offered at Askari 10 in Sector D in which Director Press Information Department Lahore Shafqat Abbas, Senior Journalist Mujibur Rahman Shami, Director Public Relations Railway Babar, Umar Shami, Usman Shami, Jameel Athar, Irfan Athar, Imran Athar , Safdar Ali Khan, Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi, Athar Ali Khan, Babar Mir, Munir Jilani, Sajjad Bukhari, Ghulam Ahmad Isa Khan, Professor Saeed Ahmad Saeedi, Col. Akbar Butt, and a large number of citizens including other important political and social figures attended the funeral prayer which was led by Sufi Gulzar.
The second funeral prayer was led by Allama Mazhar Saeed Kazmi, the Central Ameer of Jamaat Ahl-Sunnat, at Shahi Eid Gah, Khanewal Road, Multan. Allama Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Muhammad Farooq Khan Saeedi, Allama Dr. Sadeeq Khan Qadri, Allama Mufti Usman Pasruri, Allama Qazi Bashir Golrovi and a large number of people including Allama Qari Amanullah Mehravi participated in the funeral prayer.
Mr. Mumtaz A. Tahir adhered to the values and was not willing to compromise on the high traditions of journalism in any era or situation, he played a key role in the success of Nizam Mustafa movement through special publication in daily Aftab.
Mr. Mumtaz A. Tahir had a very kind, cheerful and friendly personality. Numerous political, religious and social personalities of Pakistan expressed grief and sorrow on his death and praised his services for journalism. They prayed for the patience for his family and highest abodes of Jannah for Mr. Mumtaz A. Tahir, Ameen.
