Senators urge strengthening democracy

Following their retirement on March 11, senators in the upper house emphasised the importance of bolstering democracy in the nation  in order to secure Pakistan’s economic future on Wednesday. Sen. Mohmmad Ishaq Dar, the Leader of the House, and Sen. Dr.  Shahzad Waseem, the Leader of the Opposition, moved resolution under Rule 263 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business  in the Senate, 2012, requesting that the requirement of Rule 41 of  the aforementioned Rules regarding question hour be waived for the remaining sittings of the current session. Deputy Chairman  Sentat Mirza Muhammad Afridi accepted the resolution. In her departure address, Senator Professor Dr. Mahar Taj Roghani thanked Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and Senate Deputy Chairman Mirza Afridi for facilitating peaceful Senate session.
