The Attorney-General for Pakistan, Mansoor Usman Awan, was directed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to quickly establish a fresh inquiry commission concerning the execution of the high court’s decision in the Faizabad sit-in case after the court rejected the government’s fact-finding committee on Wednesday. The government established the fact-finding committee on Friday with the goal of looking into the “role and directions” of all “concerned” officials in the handling and administration of the 2017 sit-in. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa stated during the hearing that the supreme court was interested in learning who was responsible for the sit-in at Faizabad. He said, “We want to know who was the mastermind of the Faizabad sit-in,” lamenting the fact that the ruling, which was issued on February 6, 2019, has not been carried out.
