ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tareen has said that if the Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) did not cooperate with the government in achieving its development goals, he would be removed from office.
If the Governor SBP does not provide the required assistance to the government, we will bring the SBP law before Parliament to amend it. Parliament is supreme and it can make any change in the law. Briefing reporters at Punjab House here on Tuesday, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said, “We do not think that Governor SBP will need to be removed from his office.”
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Federal Minister for Energy Hamad Azhar also said that the government would soon introduce a bill for average price of gas in Parliament and this bill would be introduced next week.
