A joint meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Monitoring Sugar Export and the Sugar Advisory Board (SAB) was presided over by Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Thursday. The committee’s recommendation was to export 40,000 metric tonnes of sugar to Tajikistan.

According to a news release, the ministry would implement this advice by providing updates on the sugar business to the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for a decision regarding the export of sugar.

In addition, the minister mentioned that the SAB suggested extending the export window from 45 to 60 days.

The ex-mills price of sugar has not increased, according to representatives of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, and it is unrelated to the retail price of the product.

They pushed for government action to keep retail prices stable.
