Saad Rafique for timely, synchronized elections across country

ISLAMABAD:  Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday emphasized the importance of holding synchronized and on-time elections throughout the country, in order to preserve national unity.

The minister warned that any deviation from holding elections simultaneously in all four federating units and the federal capital could have serious consequences and complicated issues during a media conference outside the Supreme Court.

He continued by saying that the government had expressed its opinions in response to a citizen’s request for simultaneous provincial and federal elections.

Saad expressed his disapproval of the earlier court rulings and said that the government’s allied parties were currently consulting to find a solution.

The minister voiced his apprehensions regarding previous court rulings, stating that a decision had not yet been reached on whether to pursue legal recourse or explore alternative avenues to address the matter.
