‘Running out of time’ — President Zardari emphasizes need for political reconciliation

In addition to urging all parties to contribute to the nation’s prosperity, President Asif Ali Zardari has called for concerted measures to steer the nation out of catastrophe.
He made this statement at a joint session of parliament following the general elections on February 8 amid demonstrations organised by lawmakers from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), which is supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
“This is my second term as president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Let me also take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all parliamentarians and provincial assembly members for their trust and confidence in me,” the president declared.
The President emphasised the necessity to create a political environment in order to meet the expectations of all stakeholders and stated that their vision and philosophy will enhance the nation.
