ISLAMABAD: According to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday, the investigation agencies were looking into the former Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid. They would share any updates on their findings. The information was disclosed by the minister at a press conference in Islamabad after Section 144 was implemented in Lahore prior to the Arat March and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s(PTI)election rally. Sanaullah stated that only the institution could conduct Faiz’s court martial and that the General Headquarters (GHQ), not the Interior Ministry, is in charge of conducting the military trial.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah criticized Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, for holding a rally on International Women’s Day. She claimed that the Punjab government had implemented Section 144 in Lahore as a result of alerts from the relevant institutions.
The minister stated during a press conference that the Aurat March and Haya Day were the two occasions being observed simultaneously in the provincial capital today (Wednesday) due to concerns over any potentially dangerous circumstances. He claimed that the government’s decision to forbid protests, gatherings, and sit-ins in Lahore was driven by fears. Attacking the PTI leader, he claimed that Mr. Khan chose that special day to announce his “Burger March” in order to incite conflict.
He said Imran Khan displayed his plastered leg when it came to appear before courts but staged rallies on the other side. “He [Imran Khan] cannot hold him back from creating tension in the country,” Sanaullah said.
The minister stated that Mr. Khan should appear before the courts because he was able to recover from the injuries he received in Wazirabad during an assassination attempt. In three cases, he claimed Khan lacked the justification to stand his ground. He bemoaned the fact that Imran Khan received relief from the courts, whether or not it was warranted. Mr. Sanaullah stated that the PTI leader had been summoned by an Islamabad court on March 13 and that he would be arrested if he skipped the hearing. He described Farhat Shahzadi, also known as Farah Gogi, as Imran Khan and his wife’s front person and claimed she had stolen Rs. 12 billion. He claimed that Mr. Khan’s administration resulted in losses to the national coffers totaling Rs. 50 billion.
