Just hours before the start of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators manager Azam Khan said on Thursday that star all-rounder Shahid Afridi had tested positive for the Covid 19.
He will be quarantined at home following the PCB’s protocol and will be reinstated after seven days of quarantine and negative tests.
The team management said that Afridi left the biosecure bubble and went to the hospital yesterday where he spent a few hours and on his return his test came positive.
The administration says Afridi did not show any signs of illness.
A day earlier, Afridi had requested the franchise management to release him for one day from the start of PSL for medical and personal reasons.
Afridi had told the administration that he was suffering from back pain and that his brother-in-law had died.
