Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to have ruled out naming their daughter after Princess Charlotte, Queen or Princess Diana, due to security concerns.

According to the documentary Secrets of the Royal Palaces, Richard Kay argued that Cambridge did not want to give a first name to the two women as Charlotte would then be compared to him.

Instead, the couple chose to give Charlotte another name, Diana, to honor Prince William’s mother.

 

I think she made a very wise decision not to give Charlotte her mother’s name as her first name,” he said.

Everything he did and said was compared to what he did.

Giving Diana a middle name means that Diana is still there.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, meanwhile, named their daughter Lalibet Diana, the opposite of both Queen and Princess Diana.
