ISLAMABAD/ Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condoled the demise of veteran journalist Mumtaz Ahmed Tahir.
In a message of condolence, the prime minister said Mumtaz Tahir rendered invaluable services in the field of journalism, especially for the promotion and strengthening of the regional newspapers in the last 50 years. His passing away is saddening and would create a void in the field of media, he added.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani on Friday also expressed their heartfelt condolences over the sad demise of senior journalist Mumtaz Ahmed Tahir.
In separate condolence messages, the speaker and deputy speaker acknowledged his invaluable services in the field of journalism and stated that Mumtaz’s contributions would always be remembered.
They prayed for Allah Almighty to elevate the ranks of the deceased in Jannah and grant strength and patience to the bereaved to bear their irreparable loss with fortitude.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed condolences over the demise of senior journalist Mumtaz Ahmed Tahir.
The minister, in a condolence message, prayed to the Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
She also sympathized with the bereaved family. Marriyum said journalist Mumtaz Tahir played a major role in promoting regional journalism.
“His demise is a major blow to journalism,” she held.
Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Aamir Mir has expressed his condolence on the death of well-known journalist Mumtaz Ahmad Tahir. He said that Mumtaz Ahmed Tahir, the founder and Chief Editor of Daily Aftab, established wonderful traditions in the field of journalism and I pay tribute to him for his journalistic services. Amir Mir said that Mumtaz Ahmed Tahir’s excellent services in the field of journalism will always be remembered.
