ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked provinces and administrative divisions to submit to the federal government a detailed plan for the distribution of food items at reduced prices during the holy month of Ramazan.
Chairing a meeting on the availability of food and basic necessities, he emphasized the use of technology to regulate prices in Ramadan bazaars. He also emphasized the importance of implementing security measures that work. To accommodate the largest possible population, the prime minister ordered that the number of Ramadan bazars be increased in major cities. He asserted that the federal and provincial governments’ fundamental duty was to see to it that citizens had access to necessities.
In this regard, he demanded improved communication between the capital and the provinces and urged tough action against hoarders. He emphasized the importance of removing obstacles to the import of necessities first. He declared that special committees would be formed to enhance the flow of commodities and preserve their prices. The required actions were being taken, it was announced to the gathering, to guarantee the supply of commodities such as wheat, pulses, edible oil, and other items. It was emphasized that the federal government was giving the provinces the necessary wheat. Using mobile phone applications, some provinces are able to connect with their citizens and offer them discounted supplies of necessities.
