On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated their support for the Palestinian people’s intrinsic right to self-determination.
November 29 was designated as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People by the UN General Assembly in 1977.
This is the second year that the day has been marked in the midst of Israel’s destructive, more than 13-month-long assault on Gaza.
Israel’s military offensive in reprisal for Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023 bombings has killed around 44,300 Palestinians and injured almost 105,000 more; the death toll is thought to be significantly higher because many more are still thought to be missing beneath the debris.
President Zardari called for an end to the “genocide of Palestinian people” and vehemently denounced Israel’s unrelenting onslaught in Gaza.
