ISLAMABAD: The Finance Supplementary Bill 2023, which was forwarded to President Arif Alvi on Wednesday, two days after the National Assembly passed it on February 20, has received his approval. According to Article 75 of the Constitution, the approval has been granted, the President House stated in a statement today. To fulfill the requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the revival of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which has been stalled for months, the bill calls for additional taxes and duties totaling Rs170 billion. The government is working extremely hard to reassure the Washington-based lender of its dedication to upholding the standards established for the loan program.
