RAWALPINDI: Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), warned on Wednesday that if the Supreme Court’s (SC) ruling was not followed, there would be bloodshed in the nation.
He continued, “Pakistan is turning into a giant prison and a death zone for the poor, who are starving to death. In the last ten months, the government did nothing but obtain the dismissal of the cases brought against the rulers. The judges are being divided in a plot similar to the one that occurred in 1998. According to him, today is crucial for Pakistan’s democracy because it will determine whether the country achieves social, political, and economic stability or descends into political polarization.
Political instability has moved the IMF into imposing four stringent conditions like that of 1998, Moody’s downgrading of Pakistan’s rating, and raising concerns of the country’s default”.
