PML-N, PPP, JUI-F oppose SIC plea in Supreme Court

On Monday, the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) filed an appeal against the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) decision to not grant it reserved seats for women and minorities. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) rejected the SIC’s case.
The incident occurred when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s main ally, SIC, filed a petition challenging the PHC’s ruling on the reserved seats before the Supreme Court’s 13-member full court bench.
Judges Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Munib Akhtar, Yahya Afridi, Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Ayesha Malik, Athar Minallah, Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Shahid Waheed, Irfan Saadat Khan, and Naeem Akhtar Afghan made up the bench, which was presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa.
