Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that among the government’s main goals are Gilgit-Baltistan’s growth and the welfare of its citizens.
He was speaking at today’s [Thursday] groundbreaking ceremony at Ramday University in Islamabad.
In Gilgit-Baltistan’s Thagas neighbourhood of the Ghanche district, Ramday University will be founded. With the assistance of Pakistanis living abroad and other people from all around Pakistan, it will be built and run under the Ramday Trust.
In establishing Ramday University, the Prime Minister commended retired Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday and his colleagues. Additionally, he praised all the organisations and people involved for their collaboration in the founding of the university.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, it is extremely admirable that a university has been established in the isolated region of Ghanche. He expressed his confidence that this university, which was founded in Thagas at an elevation of 11,000 feet, will meet high criteria for research and modern sciences.
The private sector’s contribution to the advancement of education in Pakistan was also acknowledged by the prime minister. He claimed that graduates from private schools had made Pakistan proud in all spheres of life.
During his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan yesterday, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the Federal Government’s efforts to develop the region and noted that 62 households impacted by the floods received housing facilities. He said that in order to address the region’s electricity needs, a 100 megawatt solar power project has been started in Gilgit-Baltistan.
