On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the need of teamwork for the growth and prosperity of the nation and stated that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was essential to the nation’s economy.
He gave the go-ahead for the hiring of eminent solicitors to represent the board in a number of ongoing lawsuits before courts and tribunals while presiding over a meeting on FBR-related issues.
To speed the determination of tax-related matters, the prime minister ordered the establishment of Customs Appellate Tribunals in addition to Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals.
He committed to chairing the weekly reviews of FBR’s ongoing revenue and changes.
The prime minister also gave the task of developing a plan for rewarding deserving FBR staff.
