“Any compromise on health is tantamount to compromising the security, prosperity, and development of where no risks could be taken,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Thursday, acknowledging that the government has a moral obligation to provide accessible healthcare to all citizens regardless of their socioeconomic status.
In his remarks on Universal Health Coverage Day, which is celebrated on December 12 every year, the prime minister underlined Pakistan’s dedication to advancing the global movement towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He claimed that the subject for this year, “Health: It’s on the government,” highlighted the crucial role that governments play in making sure that no one is forced to choose between fundamental needs like food, shelter, or education and necessary healthcare.
