Premier Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland met at the Prime Minister House on Thursday. The delegation consisted of five members.
Upon Secretary-General Scotland’s first official visit to Pakistan, the prime minister greeted her. The prime minister expressed gratitude to the Commonwealth for its continuous support of Pakistan’s democratic and socioeconomic institutions and reiterated the government’s intention to collaborate with the organisation on matters of shared concern, especially youth empowerment, climate change, and good governance.
One of the government’s top priorities, according to the prime minister, is giving young people access to contemporary education and technical training. He outlined the many steps the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has made and reaffirmed Pakistan’s government’s commitment to collaborating with the Commonwealth to improve youth access and opportunity.
