In a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif suggested creating a committee to work together to find answers to political problems.
The prime minister is inviting Maulana to rejoin the ruling coalition and is stepping up efforts to regain his trust at the same time as the visit.
Nevertheless, Fazl persists in contesting the results of the general elections held on February 8th, claiming that the polls were “rigged” after his party was defeated.
The prime minister went to Maulana’s house on Thursday to check on him, according to a statement issued by the PM’s Office.
PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude for the veteran politician’s religious contributions to the country and acknowledged his role in fostering a nonviolent campaign to defend democratic norms.
