Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, gave the relevant authorities instructions on Monday to quicken the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the airline flying the nation’s flag. The prime minister emphasised the need to complete the privatisation process within the allotted time frame while presiding over a review meeting about the financial issue of PIA. In this sense, the prime minister requested that he get compliance reports on a regular basis. According to PM Kakar, the government will keep helping PIA until its privatisation is fully implemented. He said that in order to safeguard the national exchequer, the financially troubled State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) would be privatised. The prime minister received a briefing regarding PIA’s financial status.
