Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the prime minister, introduced a new visa regime in Islamabad today in an effort to draw in foreign investment. He pointed out that it will be difficult to draw in investment and grow trade and commercial relationships unless and until we open up to the outside world. According to the prime minister, a visa is essential to every business partnership. He conveyed his confidence that additional recommendations to enhance the visa regime will be made by the interior ministry. Meanwhile , Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, has stated that the government is doing everything within its power to support commerce and industry. He made this statement on Monday in Islamabad during a meeting with well-known Karachian industrialists and merchants. The prime minister recognised the vital role businesspeople and industrialists play in the development and prosperity of the nation. The Prime Minister’s discussions with businessmen and traders, which he started while in Karachi, include this meeting. In order to help the average person, the prime minister gave the relevant agencies instructions to provide competitive power tariffs for industries. Additionally, he gave the energy and finance ministers instructions to draft an action plan on petrol pricing for industries after consulting with business owners. The prime minister stated that while the government is working to broaden the tax base, the business community’s involvement is essential.
