ISLAMABAD: On Friday, Marriyum Aurangzeb, the minister of information and broadcasting, stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once more begun carrying out the vision of Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif to transform the nation.

She stated that starting today with a prayer for their growth and progress, the distribution of 100,000 laptops to the bookish youth would resume. She claimed that the PTI regime terminated the program because it was deemed to be “political bribery.” The minister stated that the government’s goal was to provide the young generation with modern technology, education, skills, and employment as well as funding for their businesses, sports, and other healthy activities.

She said this will counter the negative thinking which incited the youth to kill, burn, and use petrol bombs. That negative mindset gave guns, slingshots, stones, and sticks in their hands instead of laptops to fulfill its nefarious intentions, attacks on buildings, national institutions, and martyrs.

Marriyum said that a dirty mindset desecrated memorials, run a dirty campaign against the institutions, and used the youth as fuel for its nefarious agenda.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Friday that the government fully believed in freedom of the press and addressing the problems of journalists was the topmost priority of the government.

This she said during a meeting with a delegation of journalists led by Abbottabad Press Club President Raja Haroon and Secretary General Raja Munir.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi was also present during the meeting.

The Ministry of Information, she said would continue to play its key role to equip the press clubs across the country with modern requirements.

Abbottabad Press Club, she added, was one of the most important and responsible press clubs in the country.

The minister issued directives to immediately set up a computer lab and studio at the Abbottabad Press Club.

She assured that Abbottabad Press Club would also be provided with a grant already announced.

Murtaza Javed Abbasi thanked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the announcement of the establishment of a computer lab, studio, and grant for the Abbottabad Press Club.

Abbottabad’s journalistic community was doing its professional work despite limited resources, Murtaza Javed Abbasi said.

The delegation apprised Marriyum Aurangzeb about the difficulties faced by the media persons in Abbottabad.

The delegation expressed their gratitude to Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi for their support.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of PTV Director Programs Akbar Malik.

In a condolence message,  the minister expressed sympathy with the family and children of Akbar Malik over his sudden death.

Paying tributes to Akbar Malik for services to Pakistan Television Corporation, she said that Akbar Malik was a professional, compassionate, and respectful person.
