PM grieved over death of Sheikh Muhammad bin Hamad

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over the death of a senior member of the royal family of Qatar Sheikh Muhammad bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani.

On Sunday, he extended his deepest condolences to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the bereaved family. He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday congratulated Hamza Khan on clinching the title of World Junior Squash Champion, 2023.

The prime minister thanked the new champion for winning the title for Pakistan after a gap of 37 years and observed that his win had reminded the triumph of Jansher Khan in the 1986 World Squash championship, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

The prime minister also extended his congratulations to Hamza’s parents, coach, teammates and the nation on the historic achievement and said the entire nation felicitated Hamza Khan for raising the national flag high in the game of squash. He expressed the hope that in future, Hamza Khan would once again make Pakistan an invincible side in the game of squash.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday also felicitated the entire nation on Pakistan’s victory in the world squash after a hiatus of four decades.

“Congratulations to Hamza Khan for becoming the World Junior Squash Champion,” the minister said.

Jan Sher Khan honoured the country in the same way back in 1986, she added.

“May the Almighty make every youth of Pakistan a source of pride for the country,” she said while praying for

promotion of sports and games in Pakistan.

The National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf, and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani, jointly congratulated Hamza Khan on his remarkable victory in the World Junior Squash Championship.

Notably, this achievement holds special significance as it marks the first time in 37 years that a player from Pakistan has emerged victorious in this prestigious championship.

The Speaker conveyed that the entire nation was filled with joy and happiness over Hamza Khan’s victory, and both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the NA joined in to offer their congratulations.

Speaker and deputy hoped that Hamza Khan would continue to showcase such exceptional performances in the future, further elevating the name and reputation of the country and its people.

During the last fifteen months, the national players had brought laurels to home in mountaineering, boxing, squash and other games, he added. On Sunday, Hamza Khan won the World Junior Squash Championship 2023 after beating Egypt’s Mohamed Zakaria and became Pakistan’s first champion since 1986. Hamza beat Zakaria 3-1 during the final match of the tournament played in Melbourne, Australia.
