Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, gave the finance ministry and the ministry of information and broadcasting instructions on Thursday to address any newspaper issues as soon as possible. The prime minister made these remarks while speaking to a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers’ Editors (CPNE), which is chaired by Irshad Arif. He stated that newspapers should be involved in creating a culture where people are willing to hear different points of view. He claimed that a coordinated misinformation effort was being undertaken against the government at the moment. He said that a coordinated campaign of fabricated information and unjustified criticism was initiated against him while he was in the US. He said that while on a brief visit to the US, he went with a delegation and successfully made Pakistan’s case for climate change.
