On Friday, May 24, as the nation celebrated the first International Day of the Markhor, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged conservation efforts for both the planet’s biodiversity and Pakistan’s national animal.
“Let us work together to protect not only the Markhor but also all species that enrich our planet’s biodiversity,” the prime minister stated in his address to the people. We ensure a sustainable future for future generations by doing this.”
He urged everyone in Pakistan as well as the rest of the world to recommit to protecting the environment.
“Today, as we celebrate first International Day of the Markhor, the national animal of Pakistan, we take pride in the majestic creature that symbolises our rich natural heritage,” he said.
