LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on Sunday that all relief supplies for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria should be sent through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for the sake of better coordination.
The prime minister praised charitable and humanitarian organizations for their ongoing relief efforts in Turkiye’s earthquake-affected areas and claimed that Pakistani organizations were leading the charge to aid their affected brothers and sisters in these nations. A high-level meeting was being presided over by the prime minister to review the ongoing relief efforts being made by Pakistan in the earthquake-stricken countries of Syria and Turkey.
According to a press release from the PM Office Media Wing, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Edhi, Saylani, and Al-Khidmat Foundations, the Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, the PM’s Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi, the Pakistani ambassadors to Turkey and Syria, as well as other senior officials. During the meeting, the prime minister made the observation that aid to these nations should be sent in accordance with the needs of the quake-affected population and placed emphasis on the need for high-quality aid supplies. In addition, the prime minister established a subcommittee under the direction of the planning minister. The committee’s job would be to communicate information about the distribution of aid supplies to the government and humanitarian organizations.
