PM for federal, provincial coordination to enroll out-of-school children

In order to enroll the 22.8 million children who are not in school and accomplish other goals of the recently announced Education Emergency, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on Tuesday the necessity of close coordination between the federal and provincial governments.

In his televised opening remarks at the federal cabinet meeting he chaired, the prime minister stated that the federal government should aggressively collaborate with the provincial governments to address the issue of out-of-school children, the majority of whom are girls, because education is a devolved subject.

He gave the federal education minister instructions to improve provincial-federal coordination in the field of education.

The prime minister praised the federal education secretary and minister for putting together a good international conference on education for girls in the Muslim world.
