ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for practical measures to ensure that farmers receive the full benefits of the bumper wheat crop.
When Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited him here, he shared these opinions with him. The PM was briefed by the interim chief minister of Punjab about the province’s wheat production during the meeting. Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction with the province’s bumper wheat crop production. The meeting also covered other topics of shared interest and the general state of law and order in Punjab.
Meanwhile, as the international community observed World Press Freedom Day on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to journalists across the world, particularly those in Pakistan, for their commendable work to inform and educate the people.
“On World Press Freedom Day, I pay glowing tributes to journalists across the world, particularly those in Pakistan for the commendable work they are doing to inform and educate the people,” the prime minister said.
He said the environment in which the journalists worked was often full of challenges and risks and yet they never faltered in their responsibility.
“The watchdog role of journalism has helped the ideas of democracy and transparent governance evolve,” he commented.
Moreover,, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will depart for Britain today to participate in the coronation ceremony of King Charles III. The premier has been officially intimiated for the ceremony.
Sharif will also meet his brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who has been staying in the UK for the last couple of years on “medical grounds”.
Sources in the Prime Minister’s House said PM Shehbaz would discuss current economic and political situation of the country besides party’s matters with his brother.
They said the premier would apprise Nawaz Sharif about ongoing talks with PTI and future plans.

“The UK-Pakistan relations are rooted in shared history & multifaceted bonds that have grown stronger over the decades,” the prime minister in connection with his visit to the Kingdom tweeted on Wednesday.
Shehbaz Sharif said the British monarch and the royal family had been great friends of Pakistan.
He said he would also attend the Commonwealth leaders’ summit as well as engage with other world leaders bilaterally.
