The Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Cooperation (PASSCO) will be privatised, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the relevant agencies until Friday to create an action plan.
The prime minister gave the order to restructure the Wheat Board while presiding over a meeting to examine issues pertaining to PASSCO, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.
He stated that PASSCO, the Land Information Management System, and farmers’ representatives should be on the reorganised Wheat Board.
The prime minister urged the adoption of practical steps to increase wheat and other agricultural yields.
He requested that the appropriate authorities confer with the province governments, as well as the governments of GB and AJK, and develop a different plan for the federal government to purchase wheat.
