PM directs FBR to accelerate work on digitization

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the previous four months have seen the discovery of a fraud involving 800 billion rupees in tax refunds, demonstrating the benefits of FBR’s digitization.
He announced that the tax refund system will be further enhanced while presiding over a crucial conference in Islamabad today about the reforms and modernization of FBR. According to him, FBR improvements can boost income.
The Prime Minister expressed concern at the needless delay in starting a number of projects related to the FBR reforms.
The meeting was informed that there are 83,579 tax-related cases pending in different courts and tribunals, valued at 3.2 trillion rupees. It was reported that the current administration had taken a number of actions to settle the outstanding tax disputes.
The last four months saw the resolution of sixty-three cases totaling forty-four billion.
