The Frontier Corps, Pakistan Customs, district administrations, and other pertinent law enforcement organisations were instructed by Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday to step up their efforts to totally stop smuggling. He noted that only a small number of powerful individuals profited from the reprehensible practice of smuggling and emphasised the need to guarantee that residents in the country’s border regions have access to other sources of income when enterprises and special economic zones are established. Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, chief secretaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, inspectors general of Frontier Corps (FC), federal secretaries, and other pertinent senior officials attended a review meeting on the Afghan Transit Trade and anti-smuggling operations, which was presided over by the caretaker prime minister.
