PM calls for tightening noose around tax-evaders

Ijaz Hussain, an FBR officer, was given a commendatory shield and a Rs5 million prize by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday for discovering a trillion-rupee sales tax fraud.

Speaking to the officer who paid him a visit at PM House, the prime minister expressed gratitude for his honesty and diligence.

The prime minister’s persistent efforts to reform the FBR and stop tax evasion have resulted in the FBR officer’s action.

The prime minister stated during the discussion that there was no shortage of responsible and capable officials, but they needed to be recognised.

The prime minister, who expressed pleasure with the successful results of the FBR reforms, called for tougher penalties for tax evaders and those who assist them.
