On Monday, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, issued an order for the urgent release of Rs. 23 billion to address the problems of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In a special meeting he presided on the subject, the prime minister made the decision to provide funding after carefully reviewing the territory’s circumstances, according to a news release from the PM Office.
Over the past few days, protests have taken place in various sections of the AJK. The demonstrators are calling for lower taxes and power bills as well as subsidised wheat flour.
Along with federal ministers and coalition party leaders, the conference was attended by the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, members of the AJK cabinet, and senior leadership.
